Happy weekend but…
February 6th, 2010 by Rochelle
Who doesn’t look forward to weekends? The sound of the word weekend itself already excites me. It connotes family time, relaxation, hobbies, and all the good things. But NOT this weekend for this hapless mom. When I woke up this morning, I was greeted by piles of unwashed dishes, overflowing garbage, old newspapers scattered on the floor, plastic wrappers stuffed in all the wrong places. Shocks! I gotta start cleaning up the clutter before this place finally turns into a pig pen.
After taking care of the dishes and clearing the kitchen sink, I went to segregate the trash. Just as I finished sorting the plastics, cans, breakables, and paper materials, a “magbobote” (someone who buys recyclables) passed by the house. So instead of throwing the garbage away, I was able to make money out of it for P12. Not only did I get rid of the trash right away (instead of waiting for the government to collect it on Wednesday), I also turned it into cash which I immediately “deposited” into my piggy bank. Plus I’m confident that those trash will be recycled.
While I’m happy that I made the house clean and organized again, my day is far from over. Hubby forgot to send the laundry to the laundry shop yesterday so you know what that means to poor me. Ugh!

Wow! You have a full schedule, Rochelle. The new job, your blogs, taking care of your family. I’m glad we have a laundry lady to wash for the eight people that live in our house. Only 1000 pesos a month here in the province, though. Good luck on your chores! Hope your hubby doesn’t forget to send the laundry out next time.

Oh gosh, Roch, I so miss the magbobote! It’s a cool way to dispose of unwanted stuff, not to mention, Manong will also segregate our recyclables for us and instead of us paying, we get paid! how cool can you get! Here, it is also fast becoming a clutter house! I also need to start cleaning up! Love your new site, girl! So sassy!

oh, would that mean you do the laundry now Rochelle? Well, if it will console you, I do laundry, house cleaning and cooking at the same time on weekend too, call it multi-tasking
We also bring our bottles to recyling center here, it’s cool to recycle and also get a little money back.

Good luck with that Rochelle. I hate doing the laundry and if I’m in the mood of cleaning the house I prefer that I’m alone doing house chores than see them lounging while I’m working hard, lol. My in-laws has formed a friendship with those magbobote. They have their “suki” especially after Ondoy. Which laundromats do you use? We send our laundry to Libis because that’s the only one we found nearer.

Hi, Gene! Yeah, that’s the same laundromat we go to. Small world indeed. hehehe

Yes, Betchai, the laundry is mine today. I already finished the first batch this morning. I have another batch this afternoon after I take a nap. Hirap ng buhay labandera hehe.

Thanks for visiting again, Tes. Yeah, isn’t it great to get rid of the clutter and make money out of it? =)

Dave, I’m amazed that you only pay 1k per month for the labandera (laundry lady). Imagine you have 8 people in the house! Whereas here, for only 3 people, we spend close to 2k a month for the laundry. And because it’s machine-washed, we can’t expect our clothes to be 100% smudge-free. Worse, sometimes they get damaged. Sigh.
I wish we live in your area too. =)

I really don’t like housework, but I don’t like a dirty house either, so I guess it just has to be done. I do delegate some of the chores to my husband, and children, no one should have to do it all. They do live there too.

That is really cool. We don’t get that around here “magbobote”.
I know what you mean about days off. They are usually filled with a lot of chores that have been neglected all week.
